Griffiths' Porsche 928 Kuehl AC Compressor Kit 1987-1989 is an alternate solution compressor for your Porsche 928. This is our Kuehl (pronounced "cool") compressor kit. Our Kuehl Compressor kit bolts right on to your existing compressor mount. The Kuehl is simple to install as our kit includes everything you'll need and it's R134a ready. The Kuehl is a swash plate design offering smooth performance with R134a or R12 refrigerants. Since the Kuehl is a “new” compressor you don’t have to worry about core deposits and it runs with the existing stock drive belt.- Compatible with R12 or R134a refrigerants.

- 1) If you plan to continue to use R12 refrigerant, OR, if youare converting from R12 over to R134a, then we suggest you pick Ester oil.
- 2) If you car has already been converted to R134a then the type of oil could be either Ester or PAG. If the conversion procedure was well documented then there should be a “blue” colored R134a refrigerant sticker somewhere in the engine compartment noting the type of oil, or the service work order or invoice might note the type of oil, or you could contact the service facility whom did the work and ask them, or contact the previous owner.
- 3) Starting around 1993 all 928’s used R134a refrigerant with PAG oil.

This was a great value for the money and it is working well. Cost of everything was less than a heavy OEM compressor and one OEM hose that wasn’t a barrier hose. The hardest part was fitting the hoses to the car and lining up the bolts and spacers.

The AC kit was complete. Instructions were very detailed. I did not actually need all of that detail but if you are more of a novice at AC, these instructions will educate you on how to do it right and avoid screw ups.
Installation was easier than I thought it would be. Found out I had a bad freeze switch when the center vent temperature actually got down below 30 degrees F. That is colder than I have ever seen on a 928.
This is the 4th 928 AC system I have reworked and the first from Griffiths. Will use again on the next one.
